Today I am gathering with some dear friends to open our souls freely for just a few moments. It is like breathing with your toes in the ocean, the breeze tossing your hair – nothing but vast open sky before you. I do hope you’ll join us! Here are all the details.
How can one have a beginning without having an ending? I heard this once, presented as an “endbeginning”. To see one without the other is like driving in a car with only a windshield – 0r only a rear window.
Revel there just a moment. What if you are only looking at the endings? How scary it must be to always be watching what HAS happened- no view of what lies ahead. There is no hope there. Or what if you never embraced what was left behind? How empty all the up and comings feel without the sustenance of yesterdays. That feels rushed and cold.
No, I think life is a series of endbeginnings, each one to be embraced and appreciated as a complete pair. An end is a stopping point, a closed-door, because there is a beginning and a beginning is a fresh start because there is an end.
When I stop the rush and slow to watch, the endbeginning becomes clear. I am ending a journey of striving and beginning a new rhythm of abiding. This new rhythm would not be had there not been an echo of striving. I would not be here today, had I not journeyed where I have already journeyed. I cannot embrace my tomorrow if I am not grateful for the inheritance of my yesterday.
The Lord is my chosen and assigned portion, my cup; You hold and maintain my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage.
