This week has been all about two things: Celebrating this blog-a-versary and moving from one year into another. Its a week of pondering days and months past as well as a week of re-prioritizing what’s ahead.
There were some big behind the scenes changes made over here. Moving from preschool blocks to high school calculus – or at least that’s how I feel. Really what I mean is that there were a lot of technical changes behind the scenes and it was h a r d. (My dear friend Kate DiZio helped me A LOT- she’s a rock star).
To celebrate it all- the New Year, the blog-a-versary and the new upgraded internet digs I’ve been doing giveaways! (who doesn’t love giveaways!)
The Walk Through Ephesians was my giveaway recognizing hope’s influence in my soul’s recovery. The Five Minute Friday book was about remembering who we are when we get lost in all the doing. Both key moments for me in the past three years.
Now it’s time to talk about this new year.
The Word God gave me last year was UNFOLD. A weird word I thought. I always think these One Words mean something and and then it never turns out like I think it might. By the time I reach day 365, it’s usually way deeper.
In 2016 God didn’t unfold my dreams or unfold opportunity like a blooming rose. He unfolded me. It hurt. It got really messy. I stretched and pulled and even tore a bit. Pride was exposed, selfishness spilled out and then it became clear. He was making room. Room for more, for growth and change and strength.
I find myself in the empty space of endbeginnings.
So as I step from 2016’s UNFOLD into 2017’s DECLARE I am filled with wonder. A reverent wonder. The lessons of surrender I learned in unfolding are still fresh and I want to hold onto them in my new year and new word.
This requires being present.
~ The Give Away ~
Honestly, this book scares me. Perfection is my go to. Shoot- I’m still reeling from the game of perfect I just played with the Holidays (in case you’re keeping track- the Holiday won, my Perfectionism lost). I’ve ignored this book on my shelf for months. In fact I’ve had two on my shelf incessantly shouting at me for weeks now. This girl can take a hint.
So I’m inviting you to join me in this in-between and read Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist with me. Maybe this endbeginning will be different than others.
