This is a busy time of year, with all sorts of things coming to the surface. Finances, time, family—all pressures demanding your attention. The Holiday Season is a beautiful dichotomy of sacraments and anxieties. And I understand the turmoil.
I know the angst of holidays past mixing with the unknown of holidays present; the coercion of materialism against the holiness of observance. I know the worry of gathering with wounded loved ones, all caught in that same tension.
I see your broken family and every piece of memory scattered around the room. I see the empty chairs at your table and catch every tear shed in their echo. I hear your questions about the best way to handle new dynamics and grieve with you in the loss of familiar ones. I even listen when you wonder what to do with the pile of returned greeting cards.
I am here in this uncertain, yet sacred place called family.
Family is the picture I painted of heaven, it is the color of my heart and I will not forsake it. I am with you in the busy bustle. I am with you still in the awkward. And I most certainly stand with you in the pain.
My grace is sufficient for this season. My love enough for these days. My voice steady in the hustle. I am with you.
And this is my prayer with you over your family:
Its because of people—my family, friends and acquaintances that I say, “May peace permeate you.”
Psalms 122:8 (Voice)
So dear one, grip tight to My hand. Lean in to the whisper of My voice as the snow silences the roar of this year. I am Immanuel, God with you.
~~~ Dearest Reader, please join me this month as we dive into the topic of Family during the Holidays. I want to bravely discuss the parts we rarely talk about like Divorce, Death and Distraction. If we can’t be real with what we face today, how do we improve tomorrow? I’ll also be chatting LIVE on Facebook about this on Friday December 8th at 8:30 am MST. Follow me HERE so you don’t miss it.
And! Be watching your inbox for my very first “Let’s Catch Up” – a little something new I’m starting up for 2018.
