Her words took me by complete surprise. The email stared back at me like a green light when you’re used to seeing nothing but red.
All I’d done was share my story in a note on Facebook. (Remember those days — when you had to say something longer than a status update so you made a “note”- ha!) And now, this woman I kind of knew found something I’d said beneficial… edifying even. She wanted more. She was asking me to write.
We met for coffee a week later and I suddenly found myself in a room full of sunlight. There in a frozen moment of time, I was daring to breathe.
That was almost five years ago. And if I could sit with myself in that coffee shop for just a handful of minutes I’d hug my wounded soul tight and give her permission to cry. Really cry. She had no idea what freedom was just ahead of her. She didn’t know it yet, but she had just wandered into a ballroom with wide open windows, billowing white curtains swaying in the breeze of a dream and melodies of hope filling the air. A majestic ballroom built just for her.
Among those whiffs of coffee and whirly sounds with my brave friend was an endbeginning. My shame was ending and my dreams were beginning. My fear was dying and hope was emerging. Thats the beauty of hope. When the end looks inevitable really a beginning is just dawning.
“That hope is real and true, an anchor to steady our restless souls, a hope that leads us back behind the curtain to where God is…” Hebrews 6:19 (The Voice)
Your story might be different, your wounds might be a different shape, but Hope is a salve. It fills those places of in-between and grows. It only takes a drop. One drop of hope can awaken a soul.
No matter where you are, an ending or a beginning, or anywhere in between — close your eyes and breath it in. Hope has come.
~ The GiveAway~
When I shared that note on Facebook five years ago I couldn’t have ever dreamed it would lead in anyway to co-authoring a Bible Study. In fact I would have laughed out loud and then looked at you like you were simply out of your mind, had you told me then that my name would be on Amazon.
But that’s what happens when a drop of hope settles in the cracks of your soul.
Just about four years later I was sending in my chapter of a Bible Study on the book of Ephesians. Never in a million years would that girl back in that coffee shop be brave enough to write in public what the Lord was teaching her. But seeds were planted, hope was conceived.
And that’s what happens when a drop of hope strengthens the lost dreams of your heart.
So today, I want this giveaway to encourage you to rest in hope. Breathe it in. Who knows where you’ll be 3 years from now.
